Mr Leo

Born on August 31, 1990 in Buéa in southwest Cameroon, Fonyuy Leonard Nsohburinka began his musical career as a youth in a choir. After leaving the military camp in which he grew up, he chose to adopt the pseudonym Mr. Leo and began his professional artistic career in 2015 when he signed for the Alpha Better Records label. This was followed by the release of his first single, "E go betta", in which the Cameroonian unfolds his vision of music, which draws mainly on Afro pop. With this initial success, a second track was released the same year ("On va gérer"), quickly becoming a hit. With his reputation firmly established, Mr. Leo unveiled his debut EP The Love Story in 2015, the track "Jamais jamais" released in 2017, which earned him nominations at the African Entertainment Awards in the United States, and announced a debut album. The latter, entitled Love Original, was released in 2017. The thirteen tracks on the record broaden the singer's palette, between hip-hop and Afro pop, and rack up hits like "J'suis désolé", "Partout" and "Kemayo". Mr. Leo went on to become one of Cameroon's leading artists, working with a host of other artists including X-Maleya, Locko and Fanicko. A second album, Lion of Africa (Jeey), was released in 2021, continuing the young singer's evolution, this time under the world music label.
