Noël Akchote
An unclassifiable guitarist equally at home in experimental rock, jazz, classical and improvised music, Parisian Noël Akchoté (b. 1968) is associated with the Instants Chavirés scene (he created the musical laboratory L'Astrolab in 1991) and the Rectangle label, of which he is the founder. Alongside numerous collaborations (Derek Bailey, Eugene Chadbourne, Fred Frith, Lol Coxhill, Marc Ribot, Evan Parker...), he released a series of solo albums, including the Joseph trilogy (1999-2003) and Sonny II (2004), dedicated to Sonny Sharrock. In 2011, he released some twenty MP3 recordings, followed by the album Acid Rain (2012).
